Caitlyn Sanchez, LPC-Associate Supervised by Brittney Taylor, M.A., LPC-S
My name is Caitlyn Sanchez. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor-Associate. Being a military child, I grew up all over the U.S. I know the impact that being in the military can have on the service member and their family. Before becoming a therapist, I taught elementary school for six years. It was during that time that I saw firsthand how trauma and mental health can impact daily life and activities. This led me to pursue a career in counseling. I completed my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at UTSA.
As a therapist, I have worked with diverse populations. I have worked with both adults and children from many different backgrounds. My experience includes trauma, domestic violence, addiction, recovery, homelessness, anxiety, depression, bipolar, PTSD, ADD, and ADHD.
I want you to feel safe when coming to therapy. I work to build a trusting relationship with my clients. I know that it can be hard talking about hard things, and I want you to feel supported during the therapy process. My therapeutic approach is person-centered, I want to support you where you are and help you meet your goals. I am also solution-focused. I believe you are the expert of yourself and I want to be able to support you in therapy. I also incorporate cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). I believe our feelings, thoughts, and behaviors can be connected. It can be powerful when we have skills and coping mechanisms which allow us to find healing and growth.
