James Saxton, LCSW, LCDC, CCTP
Hi, I am James and my vision is to co-create a world of connection and freedom by living and advocating healing and recovery. I participate in this with each and every individual I work with and for. What this looks like day to day varies and it carries with it the awareness and living into safety, cooperation, adventure, and vulnerability. I fully believe that each individual is the expert of their own life and goals and I get invited in as a guide, a provider of practices, and creative presence to help move into a collaboration and synergy of healing and transformation. My approach is first and foremost a trauma informed approach and meeting each individual where they are. I draw on a variety of approaches and it is my goal to find the one(s) or combination of approaches that best meets your needs. I have worked with cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, Jungian concepts, cognitive processing therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and a variety of others. My focus has been working with substance abuse since 2017 along with adolescent residential mental health. I am a native Texan who has lived in a variety of locations including San Antonio. I obtained my Masters of Science, Addiction Counseling from Grand Canyon University and later followed up by obtaining my Master of Social Work from Our Lady of the Lake University. I am gratefully and happily married to my wife, Monica, who has been nothing but supportive, encouraging, and loving each step of the way. We are dog mom/dad to Winnie who has become a very welcomed addition to our household. I have a variety of interests including baseball, meditation, flotation therapy, writing, and learning. It is my hope that we travel into the adventure which is therapy and healing together and on not just a linear plane, but horizontal as well. Welcome, fellow human, and may our shared time and space be a place of refuge and getting to know ourselves.
